Control Center Design for New, Existing, and Modernization Projects
Depending on when we engage a project (the earlier the better) we can show you how the decisions you make regarding your control center can improve the overall effectiveness of the building, improve operations performance, and even improve your DCS graphics.
We have experience working on revamps of existing buildings as well as new multi-operator complexes that are located away from the operating units.
Workshops are available in the areas of human factors, control center, and user interface design. Each workshop is tailored to the specific needs of the client.
How We Approach Control Center Design
Our approach to control center design starts at the operator and works outward. Basically this means that we look at the graphics, number and type of screens required, console sizing, adjacency requirements and so on. This is contrary to the typical approach of building a box and then trying to make everything fit inside. Often times the result is a control room that is too small and does not allow for expansion. However, sometimes this is the only option which then requires a lot of creativity and prioritization of requirements. The entire approach is holistic and requires participation from the project/client stakeholders as well as the end users.
We can provide design expertise and experience in the following factors which impact the design and performance of the building:
